Job Summary/Description:
We’re looking for a creative, driven, and versatile On-Camera Digital & Linear Content Creator to join our team in Bismarck. If you’re passionate about engaging audiences and thinking beyond the newscast, this is the role for you. The Digital & Linear On Camera Content Creator will produce, deliver, and appear in engaging content across all platforms. Digital (website, streaming, social media) and linear (television/newscasts). This role requires someone who is comfortable in front of a camera, behind the scenes, and can quickly turn around content in breaking news scenarios. You’ll be a bridge between the newsroom, digital team, and broadcast production, ensuring consistency, quality, and audience growth across platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
On camera presence:
- Appear in segments for linear/television broadcasts and digital platforms (e.g., social video posts, live streams).
- Conduct interviews, voice-overs, and live hits as needed.
Content creation/production
- Conceive, gather, edit, and deliver video content for web, social media, streaming, and linear broadcast.
- Produce both short form (social clips, promos, teasers) and longer format work (feature stories, broadcast segments).
- Write scripts, copy, headlines, and captions suitable for each medium.
Linear / broadcast work
- Assist or lead in production of TV newscasts: work with producers, other anchors, and control room staff.
- Help plan broadcast segments: rundown, timing, graphics, video packages.
- Coordinate with technical/production teams to ensure broadcast-ready content (audio/video/graphics quality).
Collaboration & communication:
- Work closely with other anchors, reporters, producers, videographers, digital team, and graphics.
- Coordinate with broadcast and digital leadership on content planning.
- Provide feedback on content performance and suggestions for improvement.
Branding & quality control:
- Maintain the station’s editorial standards and brand voice.
- Ensure visual and audio quality meet broadcast and digital specs.
- Follow journalistic ethics, fact-checking, and legal/regulatory compliance.
- Create and edit video content for both broadcast and digital platforms, including news segments, promos, social media reels, and special features.
- Collaborate with reporters, producers, and the marketing team to deliver consistent, high-quality storytelling.
- Develop creative concepts for digital-first content that enhance viewer engagement.
- Manage content distribution across KFYR-TV’s website, app, and social media channels.
- Stay on top of digital trends, audience insights, and analytics to help shape strategy.
- Shoot, write, and edit original stories when needed for both linear and digital audiences.
- Ensure all content aligns with KFYR-TV’s brand voice and journalistic standards.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
- On camera presence: confident, articulate, camera-friendly presentation skills.
- A good news room citizen
- Open to critique
- Strong writing skills. Proficient in AP style.
- Experience in front of the camera (reporting, segments, interviews), as well as production/editing work.
- Comfort with fast-paced newsroom environment; flexibility to work odd hours, breaking news, shifts during evenings/weekends if required.
- Strong video production and editing skills
- Proven experience creating content for both television and digital media.
- Understanding of social media strategy and platform-specific storytelling.
- Excellent photography and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative newsroom team.
- A creative mindset with a passion for innovation in local storytelling.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a TV station environment.
- Experience in streaming/live events.
- Basic graphic design or motion graphics skills.
- Strong analytical mindset: using data to guide content decisions.
